SAN ANTONIO – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s tennis team dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to No. 12-ranked Trinity University on Thursday afternoon at Trinity University. The No. 19-ranked Gusties, who played without regular No. 2 singles player Andres Saenz (Sr., Cancun, Mexico) in singles, now drop to 14-5 on the season.

“I was very pleased with how the guys competed tonight,” said Coach Tommy Valentini. “Hats off to Trinity on a well-played match – it was close and our guys stuck together and were bold when in winning positions. Despite coming up a bit short on the scoreboard, we showed good poise and excellent depth. Now we need to turn our focus to a good recovery on a quick turnaround for two more very good teams in WashU and Texas Lutheran tomorrow.”

The Gusties will indeed have their hands full again tomorrow, as they take on another top-ranked foe in No. 13 Washington University-St. Louis at 10 a.m. and Texas Lutheran at 6 p.m.
