Women’s Hockey Defeated By Bethel 3-1
The Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team suffered its second consecutive defeat on Friday evening, falling to Bethel University 3-1 at the Schwan Super Rink. The loss drops the Gusties to 8-10-4 overall and 7-5-3 in the conference, while the Royals improve to 11-9-2 overall and 9-4-2 in the league. Gustavus remains in fifth place in the MIAC standings with 17 points and still controls its own playoff destiny as it holds a three-point lead over sixth place Saint Mary's.
Gymnastics Travels To UW-La Crosse Tonight For Dual Meet
The Gustavus gymnastics team is set to take on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at 6:30 p.m. tonight in a dual meet. The Gusties are 1-3 in dual meets this season, while the Eagles have won five of six meets this year, including a first place finish at the 35th Annual Gershon/McLellan Invitation last Friday in La Crosse, Wis.
Men’s Hockey Takes On Bethel This Weekend
The Gustavus men's hockey team is aiming to keep its playoff hopes alive this weekend with a home-away series against Bethel University. Tonight's game at Don Roberts Ice Rink begins at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday's game at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. begins at 7 p.m. The Gusties enter the series with a 5-12-4 overall record and 4-6-2 mark in the MIAC, while the Royals are 2-17-2 overall and 1-11-0 in the league.

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team takes on Bethel University this weekend in a home-away series. The Gusties travel to Blaine, Minn. on Friday, Feb. 12 for a 7 p.m. game at Schwan Super Rink, and return home to Don Roberts Ice Rink on Saturday, Feb. 13 for a 2 p.m. game at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Gustavus enters the series with a 8-9-4 overall record, and 7-4-3 mark in the MIAC, while Bethel comes into the series at 10-9-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the league.
Women’s Basketball Clinches Playoff Berth With 77-40 Victory Over St. Olaf
After leading by six going into halftime, the Gustavus Adolphus College women's basketball team more than sextupled that lead by game's end and came away with a 77-40 victory over St. Olaf College on Wednesday evening at Gus Young Court. The win clinches the Gusties a spot in the six-team MIAC Playoffs that begin Feb. 23 and moves them to 11-4 in the conference and 16-6 overall. With the loss, the Oles fall to 7-8 in the league and 12-10 overall.
Men’s Basketball Drops Another Heartbreaker 82-80 At St. Olaf
Trailing St. Olaf by two points with six seconds remaining in the game, the Gustavus men’s basketball team had possession of the ball as Gary Cooper (Sr., Detroit, Mich.) advanced it up to Chris Narum (Sr., Eagan, Minn.). Narum pump-faked and dribbled over for an open look at a three-pointer, but his shot at the last second was blocked in a controversial finish, as some argue a foul was committed on the shot. Nonetheless, the Gusties lost 82-80 in another heartbreaking defeat, dropping to 9-13 overall and 6-11 in the MIAC, and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Women’s Basketball Looks To Keep Rolling Vs. St. Olaf On Wednesday
The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team takes on MIAC foe St. Olaf College on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Gus Young Court, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. The Gusties enter the game with a 15-6 overall record and 10-4 mark in the conference, while the Oles come into the game at 12-9 overall and 7-7 in the MIAC.
Reilly Named MIAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete-Of-The-Week
The Gustavus women's swimming and diving proved once again that it is one of the top college teams in the region regardless of division with a strong showing at the University of Minnesota's Minnesota Challenge. Sophomore standout Kate Reilly (Hastings, Minn. / Minnesota Virtual Academy) led the Gusties with seven top-10 finishes, including three strong individual performances and a quartet of outstanding relay finishes. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Reilly Tuesday with her second MIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete-of-the-Week award of the 2015-16 season.
Kopp Earns Second WIAC All-Around Athlete Of The Week Honor
Gustavus gymnast Alex Kopp (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) has earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Gymnastics All-Around Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season after posting a career-high score in a dual meet against UW-Whitewater last Saturday. Kopp led the Golden Gusties on each event, finishing with a career-high in the all-around, bars and balance beam. Kopp placed seventh on bars with a 9.125. On the balance beam, her 9.525 earned her a second-place finish on the event and the 14th-highest mark all-time for Gustavus. In the all-around, Kopp complied a 37.425, the ninth-best all-around score by a gymnast in program history.
Men’s Basketball Travels To St. Olaf Wednesday For Final Road Test
The Gustavus men’s basketball team competes in its final road game of the regular season at 7 p.m. Wednesday against St. Olaf in Northfield, Minn. for game two of the season series. The Oles won game one of the series 65-60 on Jan. 11 in St. Peter. The Gusties enter the matchup with a 9-12 overall record and 6-10 mark in the MIAC, while the Oles are 14-8 overall and 12-5 in the league. Gustavus has lost its last two games, while St. Olaf is on a four-game winning streak.
