Men’s And Women’s Swimming & Diving Teams To Compete In Grinnell Invitational

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to Grinnell, Iowa this weekend to compete at the Grinnell Invitational taking place at the Grinnell Natatorium in the Charles Benson Bear ’39 Recreation and Athletic Center. The meet will also feature teams from Coe, Colorado College, College of Saint Mary, Loras, Luther, Nebraska Wesleyan, St. Catherine, Simpson, University of Nebraska-Kearney and University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Women’s Basketball Falls In Overtime To Saint Benedict 70-61

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team suffered a 70-61-overtime loss to the College of Saint Benedict on Wednesday night at Gus Young Court. The lead went back and forth the entire game, but at the half Gustavus led 29-27. The second half involved much of the same, leading to a 55-55 score at the end of regulation. Saint Benedict pulled through in overtime with a 15-6 run to earn a nine-point victory over the Gusties.

Men’s Basketball Edged By Saint John’s 87-83

Despite leading midway through the second half, the Gustavus men’s basketball team was unable to hold on to the advantage, while sending Saint John’s to the free throw line 26 times in an 87-83 loss. With the loss, the Gusties fall to 5-10 overall and 2-8 in the MIAC, while the Johnnies improve 12-3 overall and 7-3 in the league.

Alex Kopp Named WIAC Gymnastics All-Around Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus gymnast Alex Kopp (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Gymnastics All-Around Athlete of the Week for her performance last Saturday in Winona, Minn. Kopp placed first out of nine all-around competitors to win the first annual Brooke Baures Memorial "Smile On" Invitational against host Winona State, UW-Whitewater and UW-Stout. She placed first with a career high 37.350.

Men’s Basketball Looks To Rebound Tonight At Saint John’s

After suffering a 64-53 overtime loss at Carleton last Saturday, the Gustavus men's basketball team is looking to get back on track tonight at Saint John's University. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. The Gusties enter the matchup with a 5-9 overall record and 2-7 mark in the MIAC, while the Johnnies are 11-3 overall and 6-3 in the league.

Gymnastics Posts Highest Score Since 2004, Defeats Winona State 180.775-180.200

The Gustavus gymnastics team defeated Winona State 180.775-180.200 on Tuesday night, marking its first victory since 2013 and its highest score since 2004 when the Gusties totaled 187.425 at the NCGA Nationals. For the second meet in a row, Alex Kopp (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) won the all-around as she scored a 37.150. Kopp took first place in three of four events, scoring a 9.550 on the vault, 9.425 on the balance beam, and a 9.475 on the floor.

Women’s Basketball Looks To Continue Rolling With Wednesday Home Game Vs. Saint Benedict

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team takes on the College of Saint Benedict Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn., with tipoff set for 7 p.m. The Gusties enter the game with an 11-4 overall record and 6-2 mark in the conference, while the Blazers come to town at 10-5 overall and 5-3 in MIAC.

Gymnastics: Niedermayer, Bell Join KNUJ For Gustie Spotlight

Gustavus gymnast Jessica Niedermayer (Jr., New Prague, Minn.) and Head Coach Aryn Bell joined the voice of the Golden Gusties Tom Wheeler on Saturday morning for the Gustie Spotlight, which aired on AM 860 KNUJ.

Gymnastics Hosts Winona State On Tuesday

The Gustavus gymnastics team is set to host its second dual meet of the season Tuesday at the Sponberg Gymnastics Studio. The Gusties welcome Winona State University for a 6 p.m. meet, just three days after competing against each other at the Brooke Baures “Smile On” Invite in Winona, Minn. Gustavus took fourth of four teams with a score of 177.500, while the host Warriors took second with a score of 184.325. After two meets this season, Gustavus is off to its best start since the 2004 campaign.

Men’s Hockey Shut Out 3-0 By No. 13 UW-River Falls

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team was defeated 3-0 by No. 13 University of Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The loss bumps the Gusties down to a 3-10-2 overall record, while the Falcons improve to 11-4-3 overall.
