ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s basketball team takes on Saint Mary’s University on Monday evening at Saint Mary’s Gym. The Gusties enter the game with a 6-10 overall mark and 3-8 record in the MIAC, while Saint Mary’s is currently 6-9 overall and 4-7 in the league.
The Gusties and Cardinals met earlier this season in St. Peter, with the Black and Gold earning a 69-57 victory. In that game, Brody Ziegler (Sr., Mankato, Minn.) and Jacob Herd (So., Waconia, Minn.) led the Gusties with 13 points apiece. Ziegler shot 6-of-11 from the floor and added five rebounds. Herd’s 13 points were a career-high, and he also hauled in a team-best six rebounds. Riley Sharbono (Fy., Marshall, Minn.) also posted double figures with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including going 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
Tonight’s matchup between Gustavus and Saint Mary’s is the 171st all-time meeting between the two teams. Gustavus leads the all-time series 121-49 and has won the last 11 contests. The last time Saint Mary’s defeated Gustavus was Jan. 27, 2010 in Winona.
