Four Gusties To Represent Team USA At Aztec Bowl

Four Gustavus Adolphus College football players have the tremendous honor to represent Team USA at the 2015 Aztec Bowl, which showcases the top Division II and III players from around the country against the Mexico National team. Gustavus’s representatives on the USA All American Eagles include wide receiver Matthew Boyce (Sr., Excelsior, Minn.), quarterback Mitch Hendricks (Sr., Bemidji, Minn.), and offensive linemen Marcus Kelly (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) and Scott Newby (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.).

Women’s Basketball Opens MIAC Play At Saint Mary’s Tonight

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team is set to open its MIAC schedule on Wednesday when it travels to Saint Mary’s University for a 7 p.m contest. Gustavus heads into the contest with an overall record of 3-1, while Saint Mary’s enters the game with an unblemished 4-0 record.

Men’s Basketball Hosts Saint Mary’s In MIAC Opener Wednesday

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball schedule kicks off at 7 p.m. Wednesday as Gustavus hosts Saint Mary’s University at Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter the matchup with a 2-1 overall record after defeating Buena Vista 97-90 on Sunday in St. Peter. Five Gusties reached double figure points with Gary Cooper’s 20 leading the way. The Cardinals enter Wednesday’s game with an identical 2-1 overall record after dropping their last contest 85-68 at the College of St. Scholastica on Sunday. Saint Mary’s was held to 41.5-percent shooting from the field and was led by Wylie Ferron’s 12 points.

Tanner Sonnek And Allison Eder-Zdechlik Named November Student-Athletes-Of-The-Month

Freshman swimmer Tanner Sonnek (Mankato, Minn.) and senior hockey player Allison Eder-Zdechlik (Stillwater, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College November Male and Female Student-Athletes-of-the-Month presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Women’s Hockey Remains At No. 9 In USCHO.com Poll

Following a weekend in which it faced the toughest of competition, the Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team remained at No. 9 in the most recent USCHO.com poll that was released Monday. The Gusties competed well, but fell to No. 2 Elmira College 2-1 and No. 1 Plattsburgh State 5-3 this past Saturday and Sunday at the Panther/Cardinal Classic in Middlebury, Vermont.

Eder-Zdechlik Named MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete-Of-The-Week

The Gustavus women's hockey team faced the nation's toughest schedule - literally - over the weekend and competed well in narrow losses against both the No. 1 and 2 ranked teams in Division III. Senior forward Allison Eder-Zdechlik (Stillwater, Minn.) was certainly up to the challenge, as she continued her scoring streak with a goal in each game against the nation's best to extend her impressive goal and point streaks. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Eder-Zdechlik Monday with the MIAC Women's Hockey Athlete-of-the-Week award.

Men’s Basketball Wins Shootout 97-90 Over Buena Vista

The Gustavus men’s basketball team used another strong second half to come away with a 97-90 victory over Buena Vista University on Sunday evening to improve to 2-1 overall. Much like the strong start to the second half in their last outing against Simpson, the Gusties started today’s second frame with a 17-2 run to take a 62-55 lead and never looked back.

Women’s Hockey Taken Down By No. 1 Plattsburgh State 5-3

Despite taking a 3-1 lead into the game's final period, the Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team was not able to hold off the nation's top team in Plattsburgh State University, falling 5-3 to the two-time defending national champion and current No. 1 Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Chip Kenyon ‘85 Arena. The loss drops the Gusties to 3-3-2 overall and 1-3-0 against ranked opponents, while Plattsburgh State improves to an unblemished 9-0-0 on the season.

Men’s Basketball Hosts Buena Vista Today In Makeup Game

After poor driving conditions postponed the originally scheduled game between the Gustavus men's basketball team and Buena Vista on Nov. 20, the two squads are set to face each other at 4 p.m. Sunday at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. In their last time out, the Gusties team defeated Simpson College 71-62 in the home opener last Saturday. The Gusties started the second half with the hot hand, going on a 19-6 run for their largest lead of the night at 53-33, propelling them to victory and a 1-1 start to the season. The Buena Vista men’s basketball team is coming off an 87-86 loss at Augsburg College on Wednesday night. Despite leading with 2:39 left in the game, the Beavers were unable to hold on for the win, dropping their third consecutive game to start the season 0-3.

Women’s Hockey Falls To No. 2 Elmira 2-1

The No. 9 Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team was not able to hold onto an early lead and suffered a 2-1 loss to No. 2 Elmira College on Saturday afternoon at Chip Kenyon ‘85 Arena. The loss drops the Gusties to 3-2-2 overall and 1-2-0 against ranked opponents, while the Soaring Eagles improve to 7-1-0 on the season.
