Women’s Hockey Ties Saint Benedict 2-2

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team used two power play goals to skate to a 2-2 tie against the College of Saint Benedict on Friday evening at Dave Torrey Arena. The tie moves Gustavus to 3-3-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the MIAC, while Saint Benedict moves to 1-5-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.

Men’s Hockey Shut Out By Saint John’s 3-0

The Gustavus men’s hockey team was unable to take advantage of six power play opportunities Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink, losing 3-0 to Saint John’s University. With the loss, the Gusties fall to 2-5-2 overall and 1-4 in the MIAC.

Women’s Basketball Takes On Augsburg On Saturday

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team is set for its third straight road contest on Saturday when it travels to Minneapolis for a 3 p.m contest with Augsburg College. Gustavus heads into the contest with a 3-2 overall record and 0-1 mark in the MIAC, while Augsburg enters the game at 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Men’s Basketball Heads To Augsburg Saturday

The Gustavus men’s basketball team has its first MIAC road test of the season at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis as it takes on Augsburg College. The Gusties enter the game with a 3-1 overal record and 1-0 mark in the MIAC after defeating Saint Mary’s 69-57 on Wednesday night in St. Peter, while the Auggies are 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the league after losing 69-65 to St. Olaf on Tuesday in Northfield, Minn. Brody Ziegler is Gustavus’s top point-scorer, averaging 12.5 points per game, while Collin Olmscheid is Augsburg’s best offensive player, averaging 16 points per game.

Men’s Hockey Faces Saint John’s This Weekend

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play after a two-week break for the Thanksgiving holiday as it is set to take on Saint John’s University this weekend in a home-away series. Gustavus enters with a 2-4-2 overall record and 1-3 mark in the MIAC, while the Johnnies are 2-6-2 overall and 2-2 in the league. The Black and Gold most recently played Augsburg College in a two-game series on Nov. 20 and 21, losing the first game 3-1 and winning the second 4-3 in overtime. The Johnnies traveled to New York last weekend and lost 4-2 to Utica followed by a 2-0 setback against Oswego State.

Women’s Hockey Back In Minnesota, Faces College of Saint Benedict This Weekend

After a trip to Vermont in which it competed against the nation’s top two ranked teams, the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team returns to MIAC play this weekend where it will take on the College of Saint Benedict. On Friday, Gustavus heads to St. Cloud, Minnesota for a 7:30 p.m. contest at Dave Torrey Arena. Saturday, the Gusties and Blazers come to St. Peter and will play the series finale at Don Roberts Ice Rink at 2 p.m.

Women’s Hockey Player Kaitlyn Klein On Road To Recovery After Suffering Broken Neck

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore women’s hockey player Kaitlyn Klein (Plymouth, Minn.) is on the road to recovery after suffering a broken neck during last Sunday’s game against Plattsburgh State University in Middlebury, Vermont. Klein is back home after having successful surgery at the University of Vermont Medical Center to repair her C7 vertebrae.

Ashley Becker, Maddison Ackiss Named To NSCAA All-North Team

Gustavus Adolphus College women’s soccer All-Conference performers Ashley Becker (Fy., Farmington, Minn.) and Maddison Ackiss (Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska) have added to their postseason accolades as both have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Team, which was released Wednesday. Becker earned First Team honors as a keeper, while Ackiss earned Third Team honors as a forward. The two All-North Teamers are the first Gustavus women’s soccer players to earn postseason accolades from the NSCAA since Alecia Tromiczak was named All-American in 1997.

Women’s Basketball Falls To Saint Mary’s 82-74 In MIAC Opener

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's basketball team suffered an 82-74 defeat at the hands of Saint Mary's University on Wednesday evening at Saint Mary's Gym in a game that served as the MIAC opener for both squads. With the loss, the Gusties fall to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Cardinals improve to a perfect 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC.

Men’s Basketball Starts MIAC Play With 69-57 Victory Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus men’s basketball team scored the first basket of Wednesday night’s game against Saint Mary’s University and never relinquished the lead, resulting in a 69-57 victory to begin MIAC play. With the win, the Gusties improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
