ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to host the second annual Grace Goblirsch Memorial Invitational on Saturday at the Vic Gustafson Pool. Gustavus feels privileged to host the Race For Grace, which honors former Gustie swimmer Grace Goblirsch who passed away on August 23, 2013 after fighting a courageous eight-month battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.
Competing in Saturday’s meet alongside Gustavus will be Carthage College, Hamline University, Macalester College, Minnesota State University-Moorhead, Morningside College, and Saint Mary’s University. The day will begin with diving events at 9:15 a.m, followed by the men’s and women’s 1650 freestyle races at 10:15 a.m. The remaining races will resume at 1:30 p.m.
Following today’s meet, Gustavus will take part in one more competition before the new year, as it travels to the University of Minnesota to swim in the Jean Freeman Invite on December 4 and 5. The Gusties then take flight to Arizona for their week long training trip that runs from December 27 through January 3.
Race for Grace meet results can be found on the Gustavus Athletics website shortly following the meet.
