SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s swimming and diving team posted a team score of 827.5 to take second place at a triangular that featured UW-Stevens Point and Minnesota State University-Mankato on Saturday afternoon at the Vic Gustafson Pool. MSU-Mankato won the meet with a team score of 1020.5, while UW-Stevens Point took third with a 643. The Gusties turned in a total of three event victories and 14 top-three finishes.

“I thought our women swam really well today,” said Coach Jon Carlson. “Overall, we had some great performances for our first “real” meet of the year. Beating a team as talented as Stevens Point is a nice accomplishment, and we have nothing to hang our heads about in falling to a team like MSU … they’ve really developed and have put together a great team in Division II.”

Kate Reilly (So., Hastings, Minn.) earned two golds on the day, as she took first place in both the 100 breaststroke (54.24) and 100 freestyle (58.73). Leah Anderson (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) also earned gold, taking first in the 500-yard freestyle with a final time of 5:23.30.

“We had a lot of great races in numerous events,” said Carlson. “Leah Anderson and Kate Reilly in particular had great days and really came up big for us. I’m looking forward to seeing how we continue progressing in the coming weeks.”

The Gusties return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 13 when they travel to Northfield, Minnesota for an evening dual against St. Olaf College. That meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
