Women’s Tennis To Host St. Olaf In MIAC Playoff Semifinal

SAINT PETER, MINN. – After completing its regular season conference schedule a perfect 10-0, the Gustavus Adolphus women’s tennis team earned the No. 1 seed for the 2015 MIAC Women’s Tennis Playoffs and will begin its tournament with a semifinal bout with St. Olaf College on Friday. The Gusties will host the Oles at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex at 4:30 p.m. In the case of rain, matches will be played inside at the nearby Swanson Tennis Center.

The No. 1-seeded Gusties enter playoff season with an overall record of 15-12, while the No. 4-seeded Oles come to town with an overall mark of 12-5 after defeating St. Catherine University 7-2 in Wednesday’s MIAC quarterfinal in Northfield. When Gustavus and St. Olaf met during the regular season on April 11 in Saint Peter, Gustavus came away with an 8-1 victory.

Live scoring will be provided for Friday’s match, and if played indoors, live video will also be available.

The two semifinal winners advance to Sunday’s championship match, which will be played at 1 p.m. on the home court of the top remaining seed. The MIAC Playoff champion will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Playoffs.
