St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s track and field team recorded four top three finishes at the Drake Invitational/Alumni Meet held Saturday afternoon at the Gustavus Track and Field Complex. No team scores were recorded at the meet.
The Gusties were led by the 3,000-meter steeplechase performance of Thomas Knobbe (So., Decorah, Iowa), who won the race with a time of 9:34.42. Leighton Becher (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) added a third place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 10:06.45.
Nick Carlson (Sr., Fridley, Minn.) provided the Black and Gold’s top performance in the field events with a second place throw in the javelin with a mark of 170-feet 10-inches. Isaac Tapp (Jr., Stewartville, Minn.) placed third in the high jump (6’ 2.75”) and Ethan Forney (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) came in fourth in the triple jump (38’ 2.75”).
To round out the team’s top performances, Ed ReMine (So., Mantorville, Minn.) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (57.18), Scott Williams (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.25), and Sean O’Connell (So., St. Peter, Minn.) took fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.25).
The Gustavus track and field team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 28. The Gusties will travel to Mankato, Minnesota where they will compete in the MSU, Mankato Invitational.
