Women’s Hockey To Host Bethel In MIAC Semifinals On Saturday

SAINT PETER, MINN. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team is set to host Bethel University in the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink. After finishing the season 19-4-2 overall and 15-2-1 in the MIAC, the Gusties enter the weekend as the No. 1 seed in the playoff field, while the Royals come in as the fifth seed after finishing the year 14-9-3 overall and 8-7-3 in league play. Saturday’s opening face off is set for 2 p.m.

Saturday’s game marks a rematch of last weekend’s regular season series between the two squads. The two teams split the series, as Bethel defeated Gustavus 4-2 on Friday night in Saint Peter, before the Gusties earned a 5-2 victory the following day in Blaine.

It is the second time in Gustavus women’s hockey history that the Gusties have played the same team to end the regular season and in their opening MIAC Playoff game the very next weekend. Last year, Gustavus was in the same situation, as it split its final regular season series with the Royals, before going onto defeat Bethel 3-2 in the MIAC Semifinal and advance to the championship game.
