The Gustavus women's hockey team will begin the season ranked eighth in the USCHO.com poll and 10th in the D3hockey.com poll.

St. Peter, Minn. – After finishing second in the MIAC last season and posting an overall record of 17-8-2, the Gustavus women’s hockey team has earned an eighth place ranking in the USCHO.com preseason poll and a 10th place ranking in the D3hockey.com preseason poll.

Last season, the Gusties advanced to MIAC Championship game where they were knocked off by the University of St. Thomas, who finished fourth in the nation last season and is ranked sixth in both preseason polls.

Plattsburgh State sits atop of both polls after defeating Norwich University, which is ranked second in both polls, 9-2 in last season’s NCAA Championship game. Plattsburgh was a unanimous decision in both polls, receiving the maximum 15 votes in each.

The Gusties will open the 2014-15 season on Tuesday when they host UW-Superior for a non-conference match up at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Tuesday’s face-off is set for 7 p.m.
