Men’s Soccer Cracks Top 25 On NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III Poll Posted on October 14th, 2014 by

The Gustavus men's soccer team cracked the national polls for the first time this season on Tuesday afternoon.

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team made its debut on the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men’s Poll released Tuesday, Oct. 14.  With an overall record of 10-3-1 and an MIAC mark of 4-1-1, Gustavus breaks into the national rankings at No. 25.

It is the first week this season that Gustavus has cracked a top 25 ranking in any of the national polls.  The Gusties are coming off a 1-0 victory over the University of St. Thomas in their last outing on Saturday, Oct. 11 in St. Peter.  The Gusties are also ranked fourth in the most recent NSCAA North  Region Poll released this afternoon.  Loras at No. 1 (12-1-1), Wartburg at No. 2 (10-2-2), Luther at No. 3 (12-1-0), and St. Olaf at No. 5 (9-4-1) make up the top five teams in the region.

The Gusties head into a new week ranked second in the conference standings with 13 points. St. Olaf is the current front-runner with 16 points at 5-0-1 in the MIAC and 9-3-1 overall. Gustavus will be back on the pitch Saturday, Oct. 18 when it travels to St. Paul for an MIAC showdown against Macalester at 1:00 p.m.
