Hastings, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team capped a busy week of competition by placing third in the College City Challenge that place part at the Bellwood Oaks Golf Club in Hastings on Saturday and Sunday. Gustavus shot a team score of 659 (+75) to finish behind the University of St. Thomas (644) and team champion Carleton College (633).

Jordan Drenttel (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) led the Gusties for the second competition in a row by shooting a 159 (+13) for the tournament and tying for third place overall.

“Fantastic round by Jordy today,” said head coach Scott Moe. “I can’t remember the last time we had a player make six birdies in one round.”

Lauren Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) came in second for Gustavus by shooting a 163 and tying for ninth overall and teammate Mae Meierhenry (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) shot a 168, good for 15th in the individual ranks.

We’re starting to see some better shots and our play is getting a little bit more consistent,” said Moe. “We’re looking forward to the next couple weeks of practice before conference to continue improving and refining our shots.”

Gustavus will take part in its final competition of the fall season on October 4-6 when it travels to Coon Rapids, Minnesota to compete in the MIAC Championships where it will look to improve upon its third place finish from 2013.
