Match Information:
Field: Gustie Soccer Field
Playing Surface: Natural Grass
Last Time Out:
Gustavus: In its first MIAC match this past Wednesday against Carleton, Gustavus got off to a great start when sophomore forward Maddison Ackiss (Fairbanks, Alaska) was able to control a deflection off of Carleton goalkeeper Mikayla Coulombe and put it away at the 5:15 mark to give Gustavus a 1-0 lead.
After shutting the Knight attackers out for nearly all the match and just when a Gustavus victory looked be all but in the bag, disaster struck inside the final minute. Carleton senior forward Ellie Wilson was able to bury a cross from teammate Bailey Ulbricht with less than 30 seconds remaining and tie the match at 1-1. Overtime ensued, but neither team could find the net.
Concordia: In its MIAC-opener against St. Catherine on Wednesday in Moorhead, Concordia sophomore forward Emily Wendorff scored both goals to give Concordia the 2-0 victory. Wendorff scored in the 22nd and 50th minutes for what were her second and third goals in the last two matches. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Bitzan earned the complete-match shutout after making a total of three saves.
