Men’s Soccer Set For Short Jaunt To Mankato For Match Against Bethany Lutheran Posted on September 3rd, 2014 by

Jason Schwab broke out with three points off two goals and an assist last weekend at the Gustavus Classic.

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team will travel to Mankato, Minnesota for a non-conference test against Bethany Lutheran College on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 7:00 p.m.   The Gusties head into the match with an overall record of 1-1-0 after last weekend’s Gustavus Classic held Friday and Saturday at the Gustie Soccer Field in St. Peter.  Bethany Lutheran is 0-2-0 after beginning its season last weekend at the Buena Vista University Tournament held in Storm Lake, Iowa.

“It nice to play a game at the start of the season where we do not have to do much traveling,” said Head Coach Mike Middleton about Wednesday’s match.  “They will try to match us with hard-work, physicality and pressing. Make make no mistake, this will be a battle early on. I’ve warned my players until I’m blue in the face, this will be a tough old game and anyone who thinks otherwise is in for a shock.  I must be honest, this is the type of game coaches hate.  I hope my lads’ attitudes can save me from having conniptions on the sideline!”
