St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s and women’s cross country teams have returned to campus and after four days of training camp, the teams’ captains and head coach are feeling positive with what they have witnessed from newcomers and returners alike. Head coach Dale Bahr has a smaller team to work with in 2014, including 22 men and 21 women, but is excited about what he believes the team can produce.
“We’ve amped up our expectations of the team again this year to make sure we put a quality product on the course,” said Bahr. “Over the summer, they’ve put in a lot of mileage. They’re dedicated and they want to do well this year.”
The Gustie’s first competition will take place in the Gustavus Arboretum on August 30, with Bethany Lutheran College, Martin Luther College, Saint Mary’s University and Gustavus’ alumni also taking part. The women’s race will begin at 10 a.m. with the men to follow at 10:45 a.m.
