Jordan Drenttel tied for eighth to lead the way for the Gustie women.
Eau Claire, Wis. – After ranking eighth after Saturday’s opening round at the Blugold Invitational, the Gustavus women’s golf team finished the two-day event seventh in a field of 11 teams on Sunday at Wild Ridge Golf Course. The Gusties conclude their 2013-14 season with the seventh place finish, as they will not receive a bid to play in the 2014 NCAA Championships.
Jordan Drenttel (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) continued her strong play to end the season. The junior shot a 12-over-par 85 in Saturday’s opening round to sit tied for 14th. Drenttel then tallied a seven-over-par 80 to finish the tournament with a total of 165 (+19), good enough to tie for eighth.
Junior Lauren Johnson (Plymouth, Minn.) followed Drenttel, finishing just outside the top 20 in a tie for 23rd. Johnson paired an 88 (+15) yesterday with a round of 85 (+12) today to finish with a tournament total of 173 (+27).
Chloe Altmann (So., Olivia, Minn.) was the final Gustie to crack the top 30, finishing in a tie for 28th with a two-day total of 176 (+30). Altmann registered a 21-over-par 94 in yesterday’s first round before coming back with a nine-over 82 on Sunday.
