Second Round Cancelled, Women’s Golf Second At Carleton Invitational

GAC_Shield_RGB_POSNorthfield, Minn. – Due to inclement weather, the second round of the Carleton Invitational, scheduled to be played today at Northfield Golf Club, has been cancelled.  After yesterday’s opening round was suspended due to darkness, the remaining teams were able to complete the first round early this morning.  The Gusties finished second in the field of seven teams, shooting a 341 (+53) to fall six strokes shy of Carleton, who shot a 335 (+47).

Jordan Drenttel (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was the top Gustavus competitor.  Drenttel tied for second with a nine-over-par 81 in Saturday’s first round.  She finished four strokes behind UW-Eau Claire’s Kate Engler, who won the event with a five-over-par 77.

Gustavus will conclude its season next weekend a the two-day UW-Eau Claire Invitational.  The Gusties will tee off in the first round on Saturday, May 3rd before finishing the event with the second round on Sunday, May 4th.
