Milan, Ill. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team shot another 315 to wrap up the Augustana Invitational held on Friday and Saturday at the Pinnacle Country Club. To go along with their 315 from day one, the Gusties remained in seventh place with a two-day total of 630. Indian Hills Community College won the meet with a 589 after shooting a 297 on day two. Illinois Wesleyan University finished runner-up with a 603, and the University of Dubuque took third with a 604.
After shooting an eight-over-par 80 on day one, Matt Jensen (Sr., Edina, Minn.) improved with four-over 76 on day two to lead the team with a 156 (+12) and place 21st overall.
Tyler McMorrow’s (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) round got away from him on Saturday as the senior posted a ten-over 82. He finished second on the team and 28th overall with a 157 (+13). Andrew Brandt (So., Medina, Minn.) posted a second round 80 (+8) to finish 31st with a 158 (+14), Andrew Oakes (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) improved five shots with a 78 (+6) to end up in 42nd with a 161 (+17), and Andrew Krasaway (So., Hermantown, Minn.) rounded out the squad in 46th with a 163 (+19) after posting an 81 (+9) today.
George Trujillo of Indian Hills won the Augustana Invitational with a two-under 142. Trujillo’s teammate, Colin Pearson, finished runner-up with an even-par 144, and Kenny Wienckowski of Illinois Wesleyan rounded out the top three in third with a two-over 146.
The Gustavus men’s golf team will be back on the links April 21-22 when it hosts the Bobby Krig Invitational at the Le Sueur Country Club in Le Sueur, Minn. on Monday and Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn. on Tuesday.
