The Gustavus Adolphus men’t tennis team picked up three wins on what was a busy Saturday, March 22 this past weekend. In matches played at the Fitness Evolution Tennis Complex in Sartell, Minn., Gustavus defeated MIAC opponent Saint John’s 9-0 to start the day and St. Cloud State University 6-3 in the nightcap. The Gusties also played host to non-conference IIAC foe Coe College at the Swanson Tennis Center in the afternoon, defeating the Kohawks 7-2.
With three wins, Gustavus has now won four straight matches and is 17-3 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC. The Gusties will be in action next when they travel to the Boston area for their spring break training trip. From April 1st to April 5th, Gustavus will take part in six matches against east coast-based teams – three of which are ranked inside the top 30 according to the most recent ITA Division III Men’s National Poll.
Head Coach Tommy Valentini’s club will kick off the trip on April 1st with matches against Curry College at 2:30 p.m. in Milton, Mass. and No. 27 MIT at 3:00 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass. Gustavus will then face Tufts at 3:00 p.m. in Medford, Mass. and Stonehill at 3:30 p.m. in Easton, Mass. on April 2nd. The trip will conclude with a 2:00 p.m. match against No. 10 Middlebury on April 4th in Middlebury, Vt., and a 1:00 p.m. contest against No. 4 Amherst on April 5th in Amherst, Mass.
