Women’s Hockey Hosts Bethel In Semifinals Of MIAC Playoffs Saturday

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team is set to host Bethel University in the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink.  After finishing the season 16-7-2 overall and 14-4-0 in the MIAC, the Gusties enter the weekend as the second seed in the playoff field, while the Royals come in as the third seed after finishing the year 17-5-2 overall and 13-4-0 in league play.  Saturday’s opening face off is set for 2:00 p.m.

Saturday’s game marks a rematch of last weekend’s regular season series between the two squads.  The two teams split the series, as Gustavus defeated Bethel on Friday night in Blaine, Minn., before falling on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in St. Peter.  On Friday, Allison Eder-Zdechlik scored twice, including the game-winner just 15 seconds into the third period to lead the Gusties to a 3-2 win.  The Royals came back to score in the third minute of Saturday’s game.  The goal proved to be all they would need in a 1-0 shutout win.

It is the first time in Gustavus women’s hockey history that the Gusties have played the same team to end the regular season and in their opening MIAC Playoff game the very next weekend.

Fans can catch all of the action on Saturday afternoon by watching the live video or by following along with the live stats provided by the Gustavus sports information department.
