Men’s Basketball Travels To St. Paul For Battle With No. 11 St. Thomas Posted on January 14th, 2014 by

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team is set for a match up with conference-leading St. Thomas on Wednesday night in St. Paul. The Gusties enter the contest with a record of 9-4 overall and 6-2 in MIAC play, while the Tommies, ranked 11th in the nation in the latest D3hoops.com top 25 Poll, come in at 10-2 overall and 7-0 in the MIAC. Wednesday night’s opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m., at Schoenecker Arena.

Gustavus is most recently coming off a 57-39 victory over Carleton on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties used a 22-0 run midway through the first half to take a 28-14 lead into halftime before cruising to the 18-point win. St. Thomas is coming off four straight wins over Carleton (82-52), St. Olaf (62-61), Saint Mary’s (87-58), and, most recently, Bethel (81-68). The Tommies’ last loss came at No. 1 UW-Stevens Point on Dec. 21st (75-62).
