St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team is set to open its final series of 2013 tonight when it travels to River Falls, Wis., to take on UW-River Falls at 7:00 p.m. Following tonight’s contest, the two teams will meet again on Friday night in St. Peter for a 7:00 p.m., start.
Gustavus enters tonight’s contest with a record of 7-1-1 overall following a sweep over St. Olaf last weekend. The Gusties defeated the Oles 5-2 on Friday night in St. Peter before capturing a 2-0 win on Saturday afternoon in Northfield.
UW-River Falls comes in with a record of 6-3-1 overall after a win and a tie with UW-Superior last week. The Falcons defeated the Yellowjackets 5-2 on Friday night in Superior before returning home on Saturday afternoon for a 2-2 tie.
Tonight’s contest is the 28th meeting between Gustavus and UW-River Falls in women’s hockey. The Gusties hold the upper hand in the all-time series with a record of 20-4-3. Last season, these two teams met three times with Gustavus winning all three. All three contests featured just one goal separating the two squads, as each game was tightly contested.
