UPDATE: Men’s Soccer Draws St. Scholastica, Will Host First And Second Round NCAA Tournament Matches This Weekend Posted on November 11th, 2013 by

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team has earned an at-large bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament.  Gustavus will face the College of St. Scholastica (17-2-3) in the opening round on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11:00 a.m. on the Gustie Soccer Field.

Gustavus Adolphus College has been selected as one of 19 sites that will host first and second round games.  In the other first round match being held at Gustavus on Saturday, Carleton College (15-2-3) will take on Westminster College (11-8-1) at 1:30 p.m.

The Gustavus men’s soccer team is making its second straight and tenth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  The Gusties are now 8-6-6 all-time in NCAA Tournament play after falling in a shootout to UW-Platteville in the opening round last season.

All tournament games leading up to the national semifinals will be played on the campuses of competing institutions.  Nineteen sites will host four teams for first- and second-round competition Nov. 16-17. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites Nov. 22-24. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the national semifinals, which take place at Toyota Field in San Antonio on Dec. 6, with Trinity University (Texas) and the San Antonio Sports Foundation serving as co-hosts. The national championship game will be played Dec. 7.

1:30 p.m. – Winners of first round matches.

TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets will go on sale at the entrance gate one hour prior to the start of the day’s opening match.  General admission prices are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, $2 for children ages 3-to-12, and free for children 2 and under.
