St. Peter, Minn. – After debuting on the D3soccer.com Top 25 Poll at No. 25 last week, the Gustavus men’s soccer team moved up to No. 21 on this week’s poll. The Gusties also made their debut on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA DIII Men’s National Poll with a No. 21 ranking. Gustavus closed out the regular season with an overall record of 13-2-1 after going 10-0-0 in MIAC Play.
Gustavus secured the 2013 MIAC Championship outright with a 4-1 victory over Bethel on Tuesday, Oct. 29, then defeated Hamline 2-0 on Saturday, Nov. 2 to finish unbeaten in the conference. The Gusties enter the MIAC Playoffs ranked third in the most recent NSCAA North Region Poll also released today. UW-Oshkosh (1), Loras (2), Wartburg (4), and St. Olaf (5) make up the top five teams in the region.
The Gustavus men’s soccer team will host Saint John’s University in the opening round of the MIAC Playoffs on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 2:00 p.m. on the Gustie Soccer Field. Saint John’s earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and enters the week 8-6-3 overall after going 6-2-2 in the MIAC.
The D3soccer.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
