Men’s Golf Places Third At Saint John’s Winter Invite

Monticello, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team finished third at the Saint John’s Winter Invitational held at the Monticello Country Club on Sunday.  The Gusties’ team score of 588 (+20) sat behind St. Cloud State University’s 581 (+13) and Saint John’s 576 (+8).

Leading Gustavus was junior Tyler McMorrow (St. Cloud, Minn.) who shot a two-under-par 140 to finish the day in third place.  Alex Kolquist (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) also cracked the top 10, sitting in ninth after firing a 146 (+4).

Johnnies golfers Casey Vangsness and Drew Lynch paced the field in first and second place, respectively.  Vangsness shot a 138 (-4) and Lynch posted a 139 (-3).

Other top Gustavus performers included Andrew Brandt (Fy., Medina, Minn.), Trevor Gervais (Sr., Fergus Falls, Minn.), and Andrew Krasaway (Fr., Hermantown, Minn.).  Brandt led the Gustavus Black group with an 11th place finish after shooting a 147 (+5).  Gervais – who played on Gustavus’s first team – shot a 149 (+7) to end up in 15th, while Krasaway led Gustavus White in 17th with a 151 (+9).

Gustavus Black came in 10th with a 632 (+64) and Gustavus White placed 14th with a 638 (+70).

The Gustavus men’s golf team will be in action tomorrow in another separately scored one day tournament taking place at the Monticello Country Club.
