Men’s Tennis Picks Up Three Wins Over Weekend Posted on April 14th, 2013 by

Name_Sheild_sportTRAJAN_2cSt. Peter, Minn. – Back inside regional competition, the Gustavus men’s tennis team picked up three wins over what was a busy weekend.  On Saturday, April 13, one portion of the team playing at the Swanson Tennis Center on campus earned non-conference victories over St. Cloud State University (8-1) and Augustana College (7-2).  The other portion of the team was busy in St. Louis, Mo. defeating the University of Chicago (7-2) on Saturday, yet falling to the Washington University (7-2) on Sunday.

Following the three-win weekend, the Gusties improved their overall record to 17-9.  Saturday’s win over Chicago was an important victory over a regionally ranked opponent for No. 4 Gustavus.  The Maroons were ranked No. 6 in the Central Region coming into the weekend, while Washington U was ranked third.

The Gustavus men’s tennis team will now gear up for the final push of its regular season schedule.  The Gusties will be back on the court Saturday, April 20 when they travel to Northfield to face Carleton in a critical conference test.  Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
