Women’s Hockey To Host UW-River Falls Saturday In NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals

St. Peter, Minn. – Following a 4-1 victory over Concordia in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoff Championship on Saturday, the Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team is set to host the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Saturday, March 9th at 2:00 p.m. in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament.  Gustavus is making its 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and enters Saturday’s contest with an overall record of 26-0-1 while UW-River Falls makes its sixth appearance and comes into the game with a mark of 21-6-2.

Saturday’s match-up will be the third meeting between the two squads this season and the 27th all-time.  Gustavus swept the regular season series with a 2-1 victory in River Falls, Wis. on Dec. 12th and a 3-2 win on Dec. 14th in St. Peter.  The Gusties hold the advantage in the all-time series with a record of 19-4-3.  In the NCAA Tournament, the two teams have met a total of four times, all coming in the first round each of the last four years.  In those games, Gustavus is 3-1-0.
