Softball Holds Annual Alumni Game Posted on October 4th, 2012 by

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus softball team held its annual “Alumni Game” on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Gustie Softball Field.  A contingency of alumni, family, and friends of the Gustavus softball program took part in the day’s festivities that also included a non-scored contest between the Gustie past and present.

“It was a great event and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day,” said Head Coach Jeff Annis.  “It’s great to see all the friends and families back on campus, and it is also a great opportunity for the current players to network among those who played before them.”

The Gustavus softball team concluded its fall practice schedule this week and will begin traditional season practices on Feb. 1, 2013.

A total of 17 former players and coaches were able to take part in this year’s annual event, a number that coach Annis expects to keep rising year-after-year.

“The Alumni Game keeps getting bigger every year and I’m grateful that so many were able to make the trip and give the current players a good test.  These alumnus take great pride in this program and they set a great example for the team,” commented Annis.

The Gustavus softball team will open the 2013 season on March 3, 2012 against Buena Vista in the Rosemount bubble before heading to Columbus, Ga. to take part in the Division III Leadoff Classic on March 8-10.
