Men’s Tennis Shuts Out Elmhurst 9-0 Posted on March 3rd, 2012 by

Amrik Donkena won both his matches at the No. 1 singles and doubles spot.

The Gustavus men’s tennis team followed it seventh place finish at the 2012 ITA National Indoor Championship with a 9-0 shutout over Elmhurst College on Saturday morning in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties improve to 7-4 overall, while the Bluejays fall to 2-2 on the year.

The Gusties men won each of their singles competitions in straight sets and didn’t drop more than four games in a set. The tightest competition in doubles play was at the No. 1 spot as Amrik Donkena and Mya Smith-Dennis defeated Alex Harbert and Will Jung 8-6.

The Three Crowns are back on the courts at 6:00 p.m. Saturday for a match-up with Grinnell College at the Swanson Tennis Center.
