The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s basketball team has earned an at-large bid into the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship. The Gusties will travel to River Falls, Wis. to take on Wheaton College of Wheaton, Illinois. Gustavus and Wheaton will square off in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 2nd. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
Ticket prices for the weekend are set at $8.00 for adults, $3.00 for students (with ID) and senior citizens, and free for children two and under.
2011-12 Co-MIAC Champion Gustavus enters the NCAA Tournament with an overall record 20-7. The Gusties most recently fell 66-62 in overtime to St. Thomas in the MIAC Playoff Championship game on Sunday in St. Paul.
Wheaton College enters NCAA post-season play with an overall record of 21-6, also coming off a 75-58 loss to North Central College in the College Conference of Illinois Championship on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Naperville, Ill.
The Gusties are making their 13th trip to the NCAA Tournament with their last appearance coming in the 2004-05 season.
