Women’s Tennis Defeats Saint Mary’s 7-2 On The Road

The Gustavus women’s tennis came away with a 7-2 victory over conference opponent Saint Mary’s University on Sunday afternoon in Winona, Minn.  The Gusties won two of three points in doubles before taking five of six in the singles competition.  Gustavus withstands its first Minnesota road test and improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC.

“We handled the long road trip well, especially for a Sunday, and played a solid match,” said Head Coach Jon Carlson.  “Saint Mary’s is one of the most improved teams in the conference and it was good to get out of there with a victory.  We’ll go back to work this week and get ready for St. Cloud.”

The Gustavus women’s tennis team will be back on the court Friday, March 2 in a non-conference match against St. Cloud State University set for 6:00 p.m. in the Swanson Tennis Center.
