The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced Monday Gustavus senior forward and team captain Mollie Carroll as its Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week. Carroll helped guide the Gusties to a 4-0-0 start to the season with a league-leading 10 points on five goals and five assists.
The Eagan, Minn. native notched six of her 10 points with a two-goal, one-assist performance in each of the victories over Bethel last weekend, which also gave her three points in three consecutive games. She recorded a trio of assists in an 8-1 victory over St. Norbert in the opening weekend of play. Carroll began her hot streak with a goal in the season-opening 7-1 win over Concordia-Wisconsin.
After the first weekend of MIAC action, the Gusties are the lone team without a blemish on their record with two conference wins and four points. Gustavus continues MIAC play this weekend with the regular season series against St. Thomas. Friday’s game is at St. Peter, Minn. beginning at 7:00 p.m. and the Tommies will host the Gusties on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
