After going 2-0 on day one, the Gustavus volleyball team capped day two of the Bethany Lutheran College Invitational with a 2-0 record as well. Angela Ahrendt led the way on offense with 20 kills on the day, while Paige Breneman recorded a team-high 23 digs. With four wins over the weekend, Gustavus improves to 9-4 overall.
In the morning match against Presentation College, the Gusties cruised to a sweep by scores of 25-15, 25-11, and 25-15. Angela Ahrendt turned in a game-high 10 kills on the attack, recording a season-high attack percentage of .529.
Three Gustavus players finished with double-figure digs including Paige Breneman (11), Malea Noennig (11), and Olivia Warren (10). Noennig added 26 assists and four aces, while Warren hit the floor with nine kills.
Gustavus held the Saints to a team attack percentage of less than .100 in all three sets.
The Gusties cruised to their second sweep of the day, winning in straight sets 25-16, 25-17, and 25-20 over Bethany Lutheran.
Emily Phillips led all hitters, tallying 12 kills (.320) with a season-high seven blocks. Ahrendt also finished in double-digits with 10 kills.
Breneman led the team in digs with a game-high 12, and Malea Noennig dished out a game-high 29 assists. Gustavus notched eight blocks in the match, the team’s highest total in five matches.
Gustavus will head back into MIAC play on Wednesday, Sept. 21 with a match against St. Olaf at 7:00 p.m. in St. Peter, Minn.
