Gustavus senior Mark Bartley finished fourth at the Saint John's Invite with a time of 27:18.

Gustavus senior Mark Bartley raced to a fourth place finish out of 119 runners for the men’s cross country team at the Saint John’s Invite on Friday in Collegeville, Minn. The team registered a third place finish in the seven-team meet with a score of 73 points. Saint John’s University won its own meet with a score of 18, while Macalsester College finished second with 68 points.

Bartley finished the 8K race in 27:18. Kelly Fermoyle, an unattached runner, won the event with a time of 27:01. Ruairi Moynihan and Andrew Clasen, both of Saint John’s, recorded identical times of 27:16 for second and third place. Gustavus first-year runner Dillon Emo notched the Gusties’ second best time at 28:13 for 13th place.

Collectively, the Gusties finished with a total time of 2:25:58.0 and a team average time of 29:11.6.

Next up, Gustavus journeys to Northfield, Minn. on Saturday, Sept. 17 for the St. Olaf Invitational. The gun is set to go off for the 8K race at 10:00 a.m.
