Alex Kolquist
Gustavus men’s golfer Alex Kolquist (So., Hermantown, Minn.) has been named one of three Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men’s Golf Athletes of the Week following his performance at the Saint John’s Invitational on April 22-23. Kolquist finished in a tie for first place after firing rounds of 73, 70 and 72 to finish with a one-over-par 215.
Despite temperatures in the 30s and 40s and rain that fell through much of the second round, Gustavus was able to win the tournament, which was held at Monticello Country Club and St. Cloud Country Club. Led by Kolquist’s first-place tie, the Gusties took the title with a 283-283-298-864 effort that edged out runner-up Saint John’s by six strokes.
