Women’s Tennis Caps Home-Stand With Victories Over St. Cloud State And Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus women’s tennis team defeated St. Cloud State 8-1 and Saint Mary’s 9-0 on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties improve to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC with the wins.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team capped off a ten-game home-stand with a pair of victories against St. Cloud State and Saint Mary’s on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.  The Gusties defeated St. Cloud State 8-1 in the morning then took down Saint Mary’s 9-0 later in the afternoon.  Gustavus extends its winning streak to four games with the wins, improving to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC.

The Gusties swept the doubles competition in both matches, taking a 3-0 lead into singles play.  Marianne Barau, Alex Erickson, and Megan Gaard all moved into double-digit wins on Saturday.  Barau is now 11-3, Erickson is 11-3, and Gaard is 10-6.  Sam Frank recorded her 15th win of the season and is now 15-4 on the year.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team will travel to Atlanta, Georgia where it will take part in four matches on March 27-30.  The Gusties will play Mary Washington at 9:00 a.m. on the 27th, Middlebury at 10:00 a.m. on the 28th, Emory at 3:00 p.m, and Williams at 10:00 a.m. on the 30th.
