The Gustavus softball team kicked off its 2011 season with a trip to Oahu, Hawaii, where they played six games on their seven day trip to the Hawaiian Islands. The Gusties posted a 2-4 record on the trip while playing against NCAA Division II competition.

Helland, Lundgren Lead Women’s Track and Field At Ted Nelson Classic

Seniors Janey Helland and Megan Lundgren led the Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team at the Ted Nelson Classic held at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday. Helland won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 3 1/4 inches, while Lundgren won the 400 meter run in a time of 1:01.24.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team locked up in a classic duel with Concordia on Saturday afternoon in a game that included a rare penalty shot, three disallowed goals, and 17 penalties. The result was a hard-fought 3-3 tie and a three-point weekend for the Gusties who posted a 4-2 win on Friday night.
