Gustavus’ Skylar Davis and Danielle Justice earned Athlete of the Month honors for their outstanding performance in the month of January. Davis is a senior swimmer from Palatine, Ill., and Justice is a junior goaltender on the women’s hockey team from Alexandria, Minn.

The eighth ranked Gustavus women’s hockey team scored three first period goals and never looked back on its way to a convincing 5-0 win over tenth ranked UW-Superior in Superior on Tuesday night. Sophomore forward Lindsey Hjelm scored twice to lead the Gusties offensively.

The Gustavus men’s basketball team saw its hopes of claiming the 2010-11 MIAC regular season title take a hit with a hard-fought 68-67 loss to Macalester on Monday night in St. Peter. James Hill led Gustavus in scoring with 17 points.
