Helland, Lundgren Lead Women’s Track and Field At Ted Nelson Classic

Seniors Janey Helland and Megan Lundgren led the Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team at the Ted Nelson Classic held at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday. Helland won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 3 1/4 inches, while Lundgren won the 400 meter run in a time of 1:01.24.

Seniors Janey Helland and Megan Lundgren led the Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team at the Ted Nelson Classic held at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday.  Helland won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 3 1/4 inches, while Lundgren won the 400 meter run in a time of 1:01.24.  Their were no team scores kept at the meet.

Other top finishes for the Gusties included Megan Endresen finishing second in the weight throw (49′ 1/4″), Sam Broderius finishing second in the shot put (39′ 5 1/4″) and third in the weight throw (45′ 2 1/2″), Lauren Rothschiller placing second in the triple jump (35′ 3 1/4″) and third in the long jump (16′ 6 1/2″), Abby Karl finishing third in the 800 meters (2:20.32), Allie Canoy placing fourth and Janey Briant fifth in the 60 meter dash with identical times of 8.55 seconds, and Emily Ford finishing fourth in the shot put (38′ 7 1/4″).

The team will take part in the Meet of Hearts at Carleton College next Saturday, February 12.
