Gustavus gymnast Danielle Thibodeau turned in a strong performance for the Gustie gymnastics team at UW-Oshkosh on Saturday as the Gusties posted a team score of 163.675 to finish third out of three teams. Thibodeau finished third in the All-Around competition with a total of 34.525 and third in the vault with a score of 8.75. UW-Oshkosh finished first at the Triangular Meet with a total of 174.725, while Winona State placed second at 173.125.
The Gusties posted individual event scores of 42.125 on the vault, 39.275 on the uneven bars, 39.475 on the balance beam and 42.800 on the floor exercise.
Top individual performances for Gustavus included Thibodeau finishing third on the vault (8.75), sixth on the floor exercise (9.00), and seventh on the uneven parallel bars (8.65), and Samantha Opsahl placing tenth on the balance beam (8.275). Other contributors included Jamie Ries finishing fifth in the All-Around (32.225), eighth on the vault (8.650) and eighth on the uneven bars 8.650, while Kacy Lorber finished seventh on the vault (8.675) and Sam Opsahl placed seventh in the floor exercise (8.950).
Gustavus will return home to host UW-La Crosse and Hamline in a triangular meet on Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 pm in the Lund Center Forum.
