The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team dropped its first MIAC dual meet of the season by the score of 156-138 to St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon in Northfield, Minn. The Oles won 11-of-16 events, as Gustavus registered 27 top three finishes.
Anna Eames and Kelsey Lucia registered the only individual wins in swimming events. Eames won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:05.13, while Lucia took the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.90.
The Gusties swept both diving competitions. In the three-meter diving, Darcy Reller took first with a score of 203.75, while Alicia Alvarado placed second (179.50) and Alyssa Henkel finished third. In the one-meter, Alvarado came out on top with a score of 135.55, while Reller placed runner-up (130.35) and Henkel rounded out the top three in third.
The Gustavus 400 free relay team added the other Gustavus victory of the afternoon. Lucia, Dajana Vidovic, Alissa Tinklenberg, and Sarah Hund combined to win the event with a time of 3:37.60. The 200 medley relay team consisting of Carley Mosher, Steph Korba, Anika Erickson, and Kelsey Lucia placed second with a time of 1:52.11.
Mosher finished runner-up in both the 100 (59.70) and 200 backstroke (2:11.96), while taking third in the 200 IM. Vidovic added second place finishes in both the 200 (1:56.69) and 100 freestyle (55.05). Brogan Barr took second in the 200 IM (2:20.17) and third in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle. Tinklenberg finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:23.84) and third in the 200 freestyle, while Steph Korba placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:01.94) and third in the 200 butterfly. Sarah Hund contributed the final second place finish in the 50 freestyle (24.98), while also placing third in the 100 freestyle. Laura Drake placed third in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and 100 butterfly.
The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team will be back in the pool on Saturday, Nov. 20 at SJU/CSB Invitational set for 1:00 p.m. in Collegeville, Minn.
