Men’s Soccer Season Comes To End With 1-0 Loss At Augsburg

The Gustavus men’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback to Augsburg in Minneapolis on Friday night. With the loss, the Gusties were eliminated from playoff contention and saw their 2010 season come to a close with a record of 10-5-3 overall and a mark of 5-2-3 in MIAC play.

The Gustavus men’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback to Augsburg in Minneapolis on Friday night.  With the loss, the Gusties were eliminated from playoff contention and saw their 2010 season come to a close with a record of 10-5-3 overall and a mark of 5-2-3 in MIAC play.

“It was a disappointing finish to our season, but we had a good year,” commented head coach Mike Middleton.  “I am pleased with the effort and commitment of our players.”

The lone goal of the contest was scored by the Auggies with three minutes remaining in the first half.

Luke Strom played all 90 minutes in goal for Gustavus.  He registered four saves including one in the first half and three in the second half.

Seven seniors played their final match in a Gustie uniform.  That group included goalkeeper Luke Strom, midfielder Max Malmquist, midfielder Ben Ikeda, forward Dan Jarrett, midfielder Chris Adams, forward Kevin Hein, and goalkeeper Steve Lundberg.
