Simon Erlandsson Named Men’s Golf Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus Adolphus freshman golfer Simon Erlandsson (Mjolby, Sweden/Bildningcentrum Facetten) has been named MIAC Men’s Golf Athlete-of-the-Week for his performance at the Augsburg Invitational held on Saturday and Sunday.  Erlandsson, playing in his first collegiate tournament in the United States, fired a 36-hole total 142 (-2) to win the tournament.  He was the only other golfer in the 19 team 111 player tournament to finish under par.

Erlandsson led Gustavus team two to an eighth place finish with a two-day team score of 631 (310-321).  Gustavus team one won the tournament with a two-day team score of 611 (297-314).  The Augsburg Invitational was held at the Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minn.

The Gustavus men’s golf team will be back in action this weekend when it travels to central Minnesota to compete in the Saint John’s Invitational. Saturday’s round will be played at Greystone Country Club in Sauk Centre, Minn., and Sunday’s will be held at Blackberry Ridge Golf Club in St. Cloud, Minn.
