The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team is set to take on defending National Champion Williams College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship on Tuesday, May 25 at 2:00pm ET in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Eight-seeded Gustavus enters with an overall record of 33-10, while Williams, the number two seed in the tournament, enters with an overall record of 20-3.

Gustavus made the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd consecutive year this season, while the Ephs are playing in their 17th straight NCAA Tournament.  Gustavus is 32-23 in NCAA Tournament play, as Williams is 43-13.  The Ephs have won the National Championship two consecutive seasons (2008, 2009), and have currently won 12-straight NCAA Tournament matches.

Tuesday’s match will be the fourth meeting between the two squads in NCAA Tournament play.  Williams holds a 2-1 advantage over Gustavus, as the last meeting ended in a 5-4 Ephs victory back in 1999.

The winner of the match will move on to face the winner of the Chicago (22-3) vs. Pomona-Pitzer (16-3) on Wednesday at 2:00pm.
