First year Annie Jackson fired a sparkling four-over par 77 to help the Gustavus women’s golf team jump back into a tie for second place after the third round of the NCAA Division III Championships which are being held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida (a suburb of Orlando). The Gusties fired a third round team score of 322 for a 54-hole total of 331-332-322–985. Gustavus trails first place Methodist by 20 strokes as the Monarchs have fashioned a 54-hole total of 317-333-315–965. UW-Eau Claire is tied with Gustavus at 331-320-334–985.
Gustavus junior Katie Schenfeld moved up from ninth place to fifth place individually with a round of 78. Her 54-hole total is 78-83-78–239, which is six strokes behind third round leader Natalie Natuszak of St. Mary’s College (IN) at 76-79-78–233. Jackson moved from 23rd place to 12th place with a total of 82-85-77–244. Sophomore Taylor Drenttel is in a tie for 17th place with a total of 82-80-85–247. Kali Griggs fired the third best score of the day for Gustavus with an 82. Griggs is in a tie for 44th place with a total of 90-88-82–260, while Amanda Woodhull posted a score of 86 and remained in a tie for 40th place at 89-84-86–259.
The 72-hole national tournament concludes tomorrow.
