Women’s Golf Wins Augustana Invitational Posted on April 11th, 2010 by

The Gustavus women’s golf team opened its Spring season by winning the 13-team Augustana Spring Invitational which was played at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  The Gusties fired a 36-hole team score of 303-307–610 to finish 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Augustana.  Taylor Drenttel (74-75) and Katie Schenfeld (73-76) finished in a three-way tie for first place with a total of 149 (+5).

The team’s 36-hole team score of 610 is the second lowest 36-hole total in the program’s history and Saturday’s team score of 303 is the second lowest 18-hole round in the program’s history.

Drenttel’s individual rounds of 74 and 75 are the best two 18 hole rounds of her collegiate career and her 36-hole total of 149 is the finest 36-hole total career, while Schenfeld’s 18-hole total of 73 is the lowest 18-hole round of her career and 149 is the lowest 36-hole total of her career.

Other individual scores for Gustavus included Kali Griggs finishing in a tie for fifth with a total of 77-75-152, Ann Jackson tying for 19th with a total of 79-81–160, Amanda Woodhull tying for 24th with a total of 80-82–162, Rikka Holiday tying for 45th with a total of 85-86–171, and Kayleigh Dittes tying for 47th with a total of 84-88–172.

Gustavus will take part in the St. Thomas Invitational next Saturday and Sunday in Becker, Minnesota.
