Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Places Third At Central College Invite Posted on April 5th, 2010 by

Cole Carlson won the 400-meter dash and took third in the 200-meter dash

The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team got the outdoor season started by compiling 97 points to finish in third place at the Central College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Pella, Iowa.  The Gusties tallied four event wins and 14 top five finishes at the meet.  Central College won the meet with 222.50 points, as Minnesota Duluth placed second with 212.50 points.

Gustavus got individual event wins from Cole Carlson, Max Hanson, Matt Nemec, and Brian Anderson.  Carlson won the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.51, and placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.22.  Hanson won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:33.76.  Nemec cleared 14’ 0” to win the pole vault, and Anderson won the shot put with a toss of 48’ 4.50”.

Colin Rust had a good meet in the jumps.  He took third in the triple jump (40’ 9.75”) and fifth in the long jump (19’ 9.00”).  Jake Peymann placed third in the high jump (6’ 0”) and sixth in the long jump (19’ 6.75”).  Matt Leeb also added a top three finish in the 400-meter dash by taking third with a time of 51.20.  Matt Dvorak and Colby

Citrowske rounded out the top Gustavus finishers.  Dvorak placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.03), as Citrowske finished fifth (11.36) behind him in the same event.

The Gustavus 4×400 relay team of Leeb, Citrowske, Carlson, and Tony Reed placed second with a time of 3:23.35, while the 4×100 relay team of Citrowske, Reed, Leeb, and Dvorak finished third with a time of 43.32.

The Gustavus outdoor track and field team will host the Lee Krough Invitational in St. Peter on Saturday, April 10, at 11:00am.
