Max Hanson MIAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus senior Max Hanson has been named MIAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Macalester Pre-MIAC Meet on Friday in St. Paul.  Hanson won the 600-yard run with a time of 1:12.35.  Hanson’s time set a new Macalester Fieldhouse record, tied the MIAC Indoor Championship record, and placed him in first on the MIAC performance list in the 600-yard run.  Hanson was also a member of the first place 4×400 meter relay team at the meet.

It is the second time this season that Max Hanson has been bestowed MIAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors.  He was honored on Feb. 15, for his efforts at the Carleton Meet of the Hearts.  At the meet, Hanson took first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.68, provisionally qualifying him for the NCAA Championships.

Entering the MIAC Indoor Championships this weekend, Hanson ranks first in the 600-yard run (1:12.35), second in the 800-meter run (1:52.93), and third in the 1000-meter run (2:31.16).

The Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships will begin on Thursday, March 4, with the pentathlon beginning at 2:00 pm (women) and 2:15 pm (men).
